If today, for example, the surface of the earth were upset by some tectonic event and a new Himalaya rose from the ocean floods, by one single cruel catastrophe the culture of humanity would be destroyed. No state would exist any longer, the bands of all order would be dissolved, the documents of millennial de- velopment would be shattered — a single great field of corpses covered by water and mud. But if from this chaos of horror even a few men of a certain race capable of culture had been preserved, the earth, upon settling, if only after thousands of years, would again get proofs of human creative power. Only the destruction of the last race capable of culture and its individual members would desolate the earth for good. Conversely, we can see even by examples from the present that state formations in their tribal beginnings can, if their racial supporters lack sufficient genius, not preserve them from destruction. Just as great animal species of prehistoric times had to give way to others and vanish without trace, man must also give way if he lacks a definite spiritual force which alone enables him to find the necessary weapons for his self-preservation. The state in itself does not create a specific cultural level; it can only preserve the race which conditions this level. Otherwise the state as such may continue to exist unchanged for centuries while, in consequence of a racial mixture which it has not pre- vented, the cultural capacity of a people and the general aspect of its life conditioned by it have long since suffered a profound change. The present-day state, for example, may. very well simu- late its existence as a formal mechanism for a certain length of time, but the racial poisoning of our national body creates a cul- tural decline which even now is terrifyingly manifest. Thus, the precondition for the existence of a higher humanity is not the state, but the nation possessing the necessary ability.Hundreds of exemplary states might exist on earth, but if the Aryan culture-bearer died out, there would be no culture corresponding to the spiritual level of the highest peoples of today. We can go even farther and say that the fact of human state formation would not in the least exclude the possibility of the destruction of the human race, provided that superior intellectual ability and elasticity would be lost due to the absence of their racial bearers.

ORA DOIS ANOS PARA DEIXAR O BES E O GES À VONTADE COM LUCROS BILIONÁRIOS E VIRTUAIS EM ANGOLA NÃO ERA O MESMO QUE O BPN POIS ESSE TINHA O BURACO BILIONÁRIO EM CABO VERDE

E é isto que ELE não engOLE, por muita acusação pró-governamental que tenha de aturar.
O que demasiada gente, da esquerda à direita, acaba a promover com a atitude de bater em tudo pela mesma medida é uma espécie de comunismo da traulitada, de ditadura do ressabiado, de sociedade sem critério.
Tudo vai a eito, todos apanham por igual, e com isso podemos até fingir que somos muito independentes na nossa indignação – só que não estamos a ser independentes coisíssima nenhuma: estamos apenas a ser cegos a mudanças importantes e a atitudes decentes que estão a acontecer à frente do nosso nariz....DO NARIZ D'ELES NÃO CONFUNDIR COM OUTROS NARIZES
O facto de serem justas numerosas críticas ao processo não pode significar a recusa em admitir.......

Joseph Stiglitz chamou à lógica “too big to fail” um “socialismo à americana”: os ganhos privatizam-se, as perdas socializam-se. Se há décadas é assim, não vejo como podemos não dar valor à primeira vez que não o é.....OS GRANDES ESTÃO PROTEGIDOS PELA JUSTIÇA LUXEMBURGUESA E OS PEQUENOS .....QUE SE LIXEM AO MENOS OS DEPOSITANTES SAFAM-SE TODOS TENHAM 100 OU 100 MILHÕES NO FUNDO POUCO FAZ

The Hypergeometric Approach to Integral Transforms and Convolutions
This volume deals with the theory and applications of integral transforms and convolutions of certain classes of integral, integrodifferential equations, and operational calculus. An extensive discussion is presented, based on the universal hypergeometric approach, i.e. many constructions of convolution and integral transforms are obtained using the theory of Mellin--Barnes integrals and the Mellin transforms of hypergeometric type functions. This approach is spread on so-called index transforms, in which the Kontorovich--Lebedev and the Mehler--Fock transforms play a very important part. The general constructions of index transforms are given and application to the evaluation of improper integral with respect to a parameter of special function (index) is considered. The operational calculus for general integrodifferential operators is constructed for both new types of convolutions. The book is self-contained, and includes a list of symbols with definitions, author and subject indices, and an up-to-date bibliography. This work will be of interest to researchers and graduate students in the mathematical and physical sciences whose work involves integral transforms and convolutions.

Most anyone will find that they themselves have operated according to their own ethical guidelines, though that may set the bar quite low.
To post a survey on your buddy’s site and announce (wink wink nudge nudge) that the purpose is to disparage skeptics is no doubt up to the highest standards of post-modernism.

I am extremely puzzled as to the motives of the staffers involved in this at UWA who see Lewendowsky and his cohort as desirable for university employment and support. No wonder most Australians (and Kiwis) I talk with regard their universities, and particularly the social sciences departmenrs, as bizarre outposts that are absolutely unrepresentative’ of the local culture.

Kaleberg strays into the opposite question - what does econ need to be better? But I think in a lot of ways it's the more interesting and important question.

Certainly as an engineer used to systems analysis who then moved in to complex systems study I find that econ as a field lacks even a basic terminology for some of the things that go on inside "the system" that is an economy. And that's due to the silo effect, which is natural in academia, but kind of depressing.

I had a short conversation with Nick Rowe in comments on his blog where it was apparent that the econ terminology was getting in the way of understanding a system of decision making - but even more (sadly) clear that unless I was prepared to list out a whole set of references and request him to learn a new terminology (and let's face it, how well do those suggestions go down when commenters make them) then there was no way to communicate to him what he appeared to be missing...

I have seriously researched complexity in developing profitable investment strategies. In my opinion, stock like MSFT is nearly ideal for experiment as the sheer trading volume allows one to isolate - like we do in physics. Even then, almost all math tools fall apart; all models eventually fail (become inefficient, may be!), etc. etc. Only thing that sometimes works s when you begin with an objective that is well within the rational bounds of trades and trading.
